The Chair

Don Scalise occupies The Speaker’s Chair …

I teach American Government and Twentieth Century World History, enjoy writing about politics and a number of other topics, and spend most of my days alternating between streaks of productivity and naps.

I like reading quite a bit. I just finished Jesus and John Wayne, by Kristen Kobes Du Mez, and I’m currently working through From Here to Eternity, by James Jones.

I’ve been a runner since I was 16 years old and I enjoy hitting the pavement of Huntington and surrounding areas.

I’m interested in quite a bit of the state and local politics of West Virginia and the two Teachers’ Strikes of 2018 and 2019 only enhanced that interest.
